Cathy Orlando is Citizens’ Climate Education international outreach manager and the founder and National Director of CCL Canada, home to the first nationally implemented carbon fee and dividend (to come in January 2019).

She’ll join us online to train us in climate action training, leaving us empowered and effective citizen lobbyists.

Prior to working at Citizens’ Climate Education (CCE), Cathy served as science outreach manager to the Dean of Science and Engineering at Laurentian University. She started CCL’s first international chapter in September of 2010, and by November of 2011 was directing CCL Canada as a full-time volunteer.

Cathy draws upon thirteen years of experience in science communication, organizational development, and volunteer empowerment. She trains and supports climate leaders around the world, builds alliances within civil society internationally and collaborates with CCL’s Global Strategy Director, Joseph Robertson. Throughout her workday she communicates via a plethora of digital channels, organizing events, facilitating learning and connecting ideas to action.

Cathy is a recipient of a Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee Medal (2012), a Climate Reality / Desjardins Citizens Engagement Award (2017), a Canada 150 Sesquicentennial Pin from her Member of Parliament Paul Lefebvre, and a Canada 150 Medal for Unsung Heroes (2018) from Senator Grant Mitchell of Alberta.

Cathy lives in Sudbury, Ontario, Canada with her husband Sanjiv and their youngest daughter Sophia; her two eldest daughters are pursuing science degrees at university.
