Tony Blair, former PM and literal lobbyist for Saudi oil companies, says net zero is ‘doomed to fail’– surprised? Me neither.

Let’s face it — those in power have proven again and again they won’t move fast enough to halt fossil fuel extraction and switch tracks towards a greener future.

Take BP, which announced four key targets at their recent AGM. The ‘most important’? Increase shareholder returns. To help achieve these goals, BP is cutting its funding for renewables and increasing oil and gas investment by 20% to $10 billion per annum.
These fossil fuel companies are not just continuing drilling for oil and gas, they’re accelerating it, and decreasing their investments in renewables.
Why do our politicians let them get away with it? £££.
A report from the New Weather Institute identified over £4 BILLION was spent by fossil fuel companies in 2024 on sports sponsorships, and many more billions are spent on traditional advertising to influence MPs, Lords, CEOs and other decision makers each year to keep their manufactured consent for destroying the planet.
It’s why I’m calling on the UK Government to ban fossil fuel ads and sponsorships– because for too long these companies have had largely unlimited £££ to greenwash their filthy reputations to decisionmakers and the public.

France has done it, The Hague has done it– it’s not that radical. Let’s get fossil fuel ads banned for good.
