Those of you who have been following Zero Hour or other climate/nature organisations will have heard about the National Emergency Briefing held in Westminster Hall on Thursday November 27th.  Unbelievably there is a good chance that many people will not have heard of the event, especially if they stay informed via broadcast media! Despite the testimony of 9 experts including a retired lieutenant general the event was ignored by all the major broadcasters. There is a you tube video summarising the event here.  and the expert speaker’s presentations.

National Emergency Briefing  is asking us to sign a letter to the Government and the absentee broadcasters. The letter reminds the Government that under the Communications Act 2003, all public service broadcasters must inform the public on major national and international issues and the Climate Change Committee has urged the Government to provide trusted public information. It asks for an urgent televised national emergency briefing and a comprehensive public engagement  campaign so that everyone understands the profound risks this crisis poses to themselves and their families.

For further discussion of the meeting see the blog written by Dave Waltham, retired Professor of Earth Sciences at Royal Holloway, Citizens’ Climate Education Observer at COP 26 and CCL member.

Please do consider signing it via the website and requesting to stay informed.
